Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, urged the immediate acceptance of the special prosecutor's investigation on the 25th, stating, "If the special prosecutor is refused to the end, a revolutionary level of public resistance will arise," in relation to the ballot shortage incident.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Jang said, "The public does not trust the 'Lee Jae-myung's direct order joint investigation headquarters.' Only a special prosecutor recommended by the People Power Party can uncover all the truth."

Regarding the ruling party's call for constitutional revision to reform the National Election Commission, he dismissed it by saying, "Mentioning constitutional revision now is only focusing on self-interest. Now is not the time to talk about constitutional revision."

He added, "Noh Tae-ak (former Chairman of the National Election Commission) answered 'I don't remember' regarding the ballot shortage. If you want him to remember, only a special prosecutor to restore suffrage will do. Wi Cheol-hwan (Acting Chairman of the National Election Commission) shouted, 'He is not the president's dining companion.' A special prosecutor is needed to uncover whether the president is responsible or not."

He further commented, "16 key witnesses refused to attend the parliamentary audit in a large group, and only grudgingly showed up in the afternoon after facing public criticism. They will not be able to obstinately refuse a special prosecutor's investigation."

He stated, "According to a poll released today, 85% of the public responded that a special prosecutor is needed. If the Democratic Party refuses the special prosecutor, it is a confession that the Election Commission, Lee Jae-myung, and the Democratic Party are all in the same boat. Refusing the special prosecutor will be the fuse that sinks the regime."

Jang, who was hospitalized due to poor health and discharged the previous day, presided over the Supreme Council for the first time today.
