According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) on the 9th, intense rainfall of up to 50 mm per hour is currently pouring, primarily across the Chungcheong region, where heavy rain warnings have been issued, as well as in North Jeolla Province, southern Gyeonggi Province, and Gangwon Province.
Cumulative precipitation from midnight to 8:00 PM today reached 136.6 mm in Boeun, North Chungcheong Province, 128.8 mm in Cheongju, 115.5 mm in Jeongsan (Cheongyang, South Chungcheong Province), 113.9 mm in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, 101.2 mm and 99 mm in Cheonan and Gongju, South Chungcheong Province respectively, and 82 mm in Gangjin (Imsil, North Jeolla Province).
The KMA expects heavy rain of up to 200 mm to continue, focusing on the Chungcheong and southern regions, through the night.
Landslide and flood warnings have been issued in various parts of the country where heavy rainfall occurred overnight, and reports of damage continue to mount.
At approximately 6:40 AM, 82 residents from a downstream village were evacuated to a community center and senior citizen center due to concerns that the Geoncheon Reservoir in Hoein-myeon, Boeun-gun, might overflow as its water levels rose.
At the same time, at a nursing home in Gadeok-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju, a retaining wall at the rear collapsed, sending rocks and soil sliding down; 12 residents and staff were evacuated to a nearby welfare facility.

In North Jeolla Province, 26 reports of damage were received, including a landslide at a construction site for the expansion of National Route 21 in Gurim-myeon, Sunchang.
So far, no casualties have been reported.
Water levels in major rivers are also rising rapidly.
A flood warning is currently in effect for the Yongsucheon stream (Doam Bridge point) in Sejong, while flood advisories have been issued for the Musimcheon stream (Heungdeok Bridge point) in Cheongju, the Ipyeong Bridge point (upstream of Daecheong Dam) in Boeun, and the Dongseong Bridge and Putga Bridge points of the Nonsancheon stream.
The Korea Forest Service has issued landslide alerts for Daejeon, Sejong, various cities and counties in South and North Chungcheong provinces (including Cheonan, Cheongyang, Gyeryong, Gongju, Nonsan, Buyeo, Goesan, Eumseong, Jecheon, and Cheongju), Imsil in North Jeolla Province, and Sangju and Yecheon in North Gyeongsang Province.
South Chungcheong Province has initiated emergency response measures, including closing 69 sites such as riverside parking lots and low-water bridges, and evacuating 85 residents from high-risk areas to safe locations like community centers.
North Chungcheong Province is also restricting access to nine tourist sites and campsites, including Soraksan and Woraksan National Parks and the Jincheon Nongdari Bridge.
A KMA official stated, "Heavy rain is expected to continue until this evening," adding, "Please take special precautions against flooding in low-lying areas and safety accidents."
