National Election Commission Investigative Committee selects 34 witnesses for second hearing next week

National Election Commission Special Investigation Committee 1st HearingOh Min-seok, Chief Judge of the Seoul Central District Court and former Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission, answers questions from lawmakers during the 1st hearing of the 'Special Committee on Fact-Finding regarding the Infringement of Citizens' Suffrage, including the Ballot Shortage during the 9th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections, and Electoral Management Reform' held at the National Assembly on the 14th. The National Assembly's Special Committee on the Investigation into the 6.3 Local Election Ballot Shortage has decided to summon 34 witnesses, including Wi Chul-hwan, Acting Chairman of the National Election Commission (NEC), and 17 other NEC officials, as well as 3 references, to the second hearing scheduled for the 22nd.


The special committee approved the list of witnesses and references to be summoned for the second hearing during a plenary session held on the 14th.


The list of witnesses also includes five officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission, four from the Songpa-gu Election Commission, and two each from the Jeonbuk-do and Wansan-gu Election Commissions.


Furthermore, it was decided to request the attendance of witnesses including Park Jeong-bo, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Jin Myeong-gi, Head of the Local Innovation Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety; and Kim Seong-jun, Head of the Personnel and Welfare Office at the Ministry of National Defense.
