It has been confirmed that the majority of passengers who were injured in the accident where the 26,000-ton large ferry passenger ship Queen Jennyvia 2 ran aground on an uninhabited island in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province, have been discharged from the hospital without serious injury.

According to the South Jeolla Provincial Government and Mokpo City on the 20th, 30 out of the 267 passengers (246 passengers and 21 crew members) aboard the Queen Jennyvia 2, which ran aground on Jukdo (an uninhabited island) in Shinan County yesterday, were hospitalized for treatment.

Among them, 26 individuals who complained of dizziness and headaches were discharged as they showed no abnormal findings and spent the night at their homes or nearby accommodations.

The remaining 4 individuals who received hospital treatment were not classified as seriously injured but were admitted for continued treatment due to symptoms such as concussion, bruised buttocks, and lumbar sprain.

Initially, the number of injured was reported as 27 as of early this morning, but this increased to a total of 30 after administrative authorities reconfirmed the list of transported individuals from each hospital and found that three passengers had visited the hospital on their own.

Passengers transferred to hospitals immediately after the accident complained of back and shoulder pain, and dizziness due to the impact of the grounding.

Among the injured was one pregnant woman, who was discharged after a fetal movement check at a nearby obstetrics and gynecology clinic revealed no significant abnormalities.

Of the 216 passengers who did not require hospital treatment due to their relatively good condition, 143 stayed at two hotels in Mokpo, while the remaining 73 returned to their homes.

A Mokpo City official stated, "We are relieved that most of the passengers were able to return home without serious injuries," and added, "The remaining hospitalized patients are also identified as having minor injuries and are receiving stable treatment."

The Queen Jennyvia 2 ran aground at approximately 4:45 PM yesterday, departing from Jeju and heading towards Mokpo, when about half of its hull became lodged on Jukdo.

All passengers were rescued by Coast Guard vessels about three hours after the accident occurred, and the Coast Guard is continuing its investigation into the cause of the incident.
