The special prosecutor team led by Cho Eun-seok submitted the notice of consent for arrest to the Seoul Central District Court on the 27th for People Power Party lawmaker Choo Kyung-ho, who is suspected of obstructing the National Assembly's resolution to lift martial law.

The special prosecutor's team announced that it had sent the notice of consent for arrest for Rep. Choo to the Seoul Central District Court on the afternoon of the same day.

Earlier, the Ministry of Justice received a notice of consent for arrest (resolution for arrest consent) for Rep. Choo from the National Assembly Secretariat around 5 p.m. on the same day and forwarded it to the special prosecutor's team around 5:40 p.m.

The court is expected to hold a hearing for the suspect before detention (arrest warrant review) for Rep. Choo soon.

Unlike a suspect in custody, for whom a schedule must be set without delay, Rep. Choo is not in custody, so the warrant review is expected to take place next week.

Rep. Choo is accused of obstructing People Power Party lawmakers from participating in the vote to lift martial law during the state of emergency martial law on December 3rd of last year, by changing the location of the party's general meeting multiple times at the request of former President Yoon Suk-yeol's side.

The National Assembly, in its plenary session on the same day, voted to approve the motion for the arrest of Rep. Choo, with 172 votes in favor, 4 against, 2 abstentions, and 2 invalid votes out of 180 attendees.
