Code of Ethics for Internet Newspapers

[Preamble] Internet newspapers pledge to fulfill their historical mission of the times by realizing a free and responsible press.

To contribute to the formation of sound public opinion, the development of democracy, and the promotion of culture, we establish our own ethical standards and resolve to enact and practice this Code of Ethics for Internet Newspapers.

Article 1 Freedom of the Press

All members of internet newspapers shall protect the freedom and independence of the press from all internal and external infringements, pressures, and restrictions so that the public's right to know can be realized.

Article 2 Responsibility of the Press

As a public institution of society, internet newspapers pursue truthfulness, accuracy, and balance in reporting and avoid sensational journalism. When writing articles, they distinguish facts from opinions and guarantee the right of reply for the subjects of the report.

Article 3 Protection of Personality Rights

Internet newspapers shall not infringe upon an individual's honor, privacy, personal information, and other personal values unless there is a justifiable reason concerning the public interest.

Article 4 Protection of the Vulnerable and Prohibition of Discrimination

Internet newspapers exclude prejudice, discrimination, and hatred based on race, ethnicity, nationality, region, belief, age, gender, occupation, academic background, social class, status, etc. In addition, they take the lead in protecting the rights of the socially vulnerable and minorities.

Article 5 Copyright Protection

When utilizing published works for reporting, internet newspapers must clearly indicate the source and shall not plagiarize the reports and commentaries of other media outlets.

Article 6 Conflict of Interest

All members of internet newspapers shall not use information obtained during the coverage and reporting process to seek unfair profits, nor shall they accept money, goods, or entertainment. The company must not demand advertising, sponsorship, sales, etc., from journalists, and journalists must not comply with such demands.

Article 7 Prohibition of Unfair Posting or Transmission

Internet newspapers shall not repeatedly post or transmit identical or similar articles, and they shall not abuse real-time search terms or unfairly utilize past articles.

Article 8 Separation of Articles and Advertisements

Internet newspapers must clearly distinguish between articles and advertisements so that users do not mistake advertisements for articles.

Article 9 Ensuring the Reliability of Advertisements

Internet newspapers strive to deliver useful and reliable advertising information to users and avoid sensational or repulsive advertisements. Furthermore, they place advertisements in a manner that does not deceive users and does not hinder the readability of articles.

Article 10 User Participation

Internet newspapers provide opportunities for sound user participation and guarantee the legitimate use of articles. In addition, they make efforts to ensure that the rights of others are not infringed upon by users' posts.
