On the day of the general election for the June 3rd local elections, some polling stations in the Jamsil area of Songpa-gu, Seoul, experienced confusion as they ran out of ballots, with lines of about 100 people each.

According to Yonhap News, ballot shortages have led to voters waiting at polling stations, including Jamsil 2-dong Polling Station 6, since 1 p.m. today.

It has been reported that voting has not been conducted at all since 4:30 p.m. A considerable number of voters are understood to have left after waiting.

Election workers at the scene are informing voters, "We are awaiting instructions from the election commission."

Some voters are strongly protesting, concerned that they will be unable to exercise their right to vote due to the ballot shortage.

One voter questioned the staff, saying, "How can you distinguish between those who arrived after 6 p.m. and those who have been waiting?"

The same situation has been observed at a minimum of four polling stations, including Garak 2-dong Polling Station 3, not just Jamsil 2-dong Polling Station 6.

The National Election Commission stated in a press release, "Due to a higher voter turnout in the 9th Local Elections compared to previous elections, some polling stations in Songpa-gu have run out of the prepared ballots. The Songpa-gu Election Commission is currently transporting ballots to the affected polling stations."

They added, "Voters who are waiting will be able to vote normally even after the closing time, so please do not be under the misunderstanding that voting is impossible today due to a ballot shortage."
