Gyeonggi Province elevated its disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters from Level 1 to Level 2 on the 13th.
As of 1 p.m. on this day, heavy rain warnings were issued for nine cities and counties, including Namyangju, and heavy rain advisories for 12 cities and counties. Heavy rainfall is pouring down, mainly in the northern regions, with Yangju Jangheung recording 204.0 mm, Pocheon Gwangneung 173.0 mm, Paju Gwangtan 144.0 mm, Namyangju Oman 119.0 mm, and Gapyeong Jojong 93.0 mm.
In response, the Korea Forest Service issued a landslide warning for Pocheon, Gapyeong, and Yangju, and a landslide advisory for Paju and Namyangju, respectively. Evacuation orders were also issued for residents in some areas, including Paju and Namyangju.
At Level 2 of the emergency response, the director of Gyeonggi Province's Natural Disaster Division will serve as the overall situation management chief, with 40 personnel responding to the disaster.
The province had been responding to the heavy rain situation since issuing Level 1 emergency response at 4:30 a.m. on this day.
Following the issuance of Level 2 emergency response, the province is implementing measures such as: ▲ immediate control of underpasses during commute hours if flooded ▲ guidance prohibiting entry into flooded areas ▲ blocking access to pathways along rivers ▲ resident evacuation upon signs of danger such as flood advisories ▲ checking the emergency contact system for priority evacuees in landslide-prone areas.
