President Donald Trump delivering a speech at the eve celebration of the ‘Great American State Fair,’ held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday the 24th. [Excerpt from President Trump’s Truth Social account]
The "Great American State Fair," a historic, record-breaking festival celebrating the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, has kicked off with a spectacular opening in the heart of the capital at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this 16-day fair is a major national event where visitors can experience the culture and heritage of every corner of the United States in one place.
On the evening of June 24th at 7:00 PM, one day before the official opening, the National Mall was packed with tens of thousands of citizens and tourists, many waving American flags or wearing star-spangled attire, creating an atmosphere of intense excitement.
The eve celebration on Wednesday the 24th was marked by an overwhelming scale that captivated both the eyes and ears of the attendees.
The event opened with a grand "Military Flyover," featuring the U.S. Air Force’s cutting-edge F-35 stealth fighters and B-2 bombers soaring across the skies of the National Mall, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Key cabinet members, including the Secretary of Defense, were in attendance, accompanied by performances from the U.S. Marine Corps Band ("The President's Own") and the U.S. Army Band.
The atmosphere reached its peak as President Donald Trump took the stage, accompanied by a live performance of Lee Greenwood’s iconic patriotic anthem, "God Bless the U.S.A."
The undeniable highlight of the eve was President Trump’s keynote speech. Speaking from prepared remarks, the President honored America's past legacy while presenting a powerful vision for the future, drawing enthusiastic responses from his supporters.
President Trump declared, "Tonight, as we approach our 250th anniversary, I am pleased to declare that 'America is back.' Like the patriots of 1776, over these past months, we have taken power back from the political class. We have reclaimed our sovereignty, restored our liberty, revived our prosperity, and saved our nation in every sense. Once again, we are realizing 'America First.'"
Reiterating the importance of honoring the nation’s founders and their spirit, he added, "This anniversary is a time to be proud of our past. We are the ones who will carry the torch of Western civilization forward. We are now at the starting point of an unprecedented 'Golden Age' in American history, and the best is yet to come."
Concluding his speech, President Trump riffed on his signature slogan, chanting with the crowd: "We are one people, marching toward one future under one American flag. We will make America strong again, wealthy again, healthy again, proud again, safe again, and great again. Happy Birthday, America!"
The now-underway Great American State Fair features a 110-foot (approx. 33m) tall "Freedom 250" Ferris wheel installed on the National Mall, alongside exhibits of agricultural specialties from each state, displays of innovative technology, and various cultural performances.
On Independence Day, July 4th, the largest fireworks display in history is scheduled to light up the Washington night sky in honor of the 250th anniversary.
The preparation process was not without its challenges. Some states led by Democratic governors—including Connecticut, Maine, and Massachusetts—declined to send official delegations, citing budget and scheduling conflicts. Others refused to participate in performances, claiming the event was politically biased.
Nevertheless, countless American citizens (at least 45,000, according to the President) continue to flock to Washington, D.C., to celebrate the nation's 250-year journey.
