(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Jin-song = Three deaths occurred in Incheon and Gimpo and Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province due to the concentrated heavy rain that poured down on the central region on the 13th.
According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, the metropolitan area is currently experiencing a lull as of 11 p.m. that day, but it is raining in some areas, mainly in northern Chungnam.
Heavy and abundant rain is expected to pour down mainly in the metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, and northern Chungcheong until the morning of the 14th.
As of 10 p.m. that day, heavy rain advisories were in effect for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungnam.
Among the areas where advisories were issued, heavy rain warnings were issued for 3 areas in Seoul, 3 in Incheon, 11 in Gyeonggi, 2 in Gangwon, and 4 in Chungnam.
A heavy rain warning is issued when cumulative rainfall of 90 mm or more is expected within 3 hours, or 180 mm or more within 12 hours.
Cumulative rainfall by region from midnight to 10 p.m. that day included 255.5 mm in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, 248.5 mm in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, 234.5 mm in Dobong, Seoul, 233.5 mm in Goyang, Gyeonggi, 218.5 mm in Yangju, Gyeonggi, 130.5 mm in Cheorwon, Gangwon, 128.5 mm in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, and 76.0 mm in Hongseong, Chungnam.
The maximum hourly rainfall was 149.2 mm in Ongjin, Incheon (as of 9:14 a.m.).

In Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) skidded on the wet road around 7 a.m. and collided with a traffic light, killing a woman in her 70s in the passenger seat and injuring the driver.
In Incheon, a vehicle skidded on a wet road in Unseo-dong, Jung-gu, around 7:20 a.m. and fell into a lake, killing the driver in his 40s.
In Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, a vehicle was swept away in Daebo Stream in Gochon-eup around 12:14 p.m., and an 80-year-old man in the back seat was found dead. The hourly rainfall in Gimpo at 12:02 p.m. that day reached 101.5 mm.
A total of 124 households (202 people) in Seoul, 169 households (224 people) in Incheon, and 199 households (286 people) in Gyeonggi were temporarily evacuated. Excluding those who returned home, 267 households (413 people) are staying in temporary shelters set up in community centers, senior centers, and public facilities.
A total of 74 reports of damage to public and private facilities were received, including 66 cases of road flooding, 1 case of slope collapse, 1 case of subway station flooding (Hwajeong Station, Line 3), 1 case of tree felling, and 5 cases of house flooding.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSHQ) upgraded the flood and typhoon crisis alert level to 'Caution' and elevated the CDSHQ emergency duty to Level 2 as of 6:30 p.m. that day.
Yoon Ho-joong, head of the CDSHQ (Minister of Interior and Safety), urged the public to "refrain from going out at night, stay as far away from dangerous areas as possible, and move to a safe place."
