《 If this is how it was going to be, why did we have the NEC special committee on-site investigation? 》

Today (July 2), members of the National Assembly special committee investigating the NEC entered the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium vote-counting station with Songpa-gu election officials.

The lawmakers just trailed along and listened to the excuses of the NEC.

It was pathetic.

The NEC claims they don't even know how many ballot boxes there are. They say they have to count them to know.  

Up until now, it was known to be 380, but today they say it's around 420.

By the time voting ends, these things should all be accounted for. That is, if it were a normal institution.

Then again, this is the same NEC that started counting votes before the public had even finished voting! 

Are we expecting too much from them?

Our expectations were not disappointed this time either.

There were no CCTV cameras installed inside the ballot box storage at the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium. It was absurd.

Then the NEC side made excuses, saying there are CCTV cameras in the outer corridor.  

However, the CCTV cameras outside were not even pointed toward the ballot box storage area. 

Both cameras were pointed in completely wrong directions. 

Therefore, there was absolutely no way to verify whether someone had entered the storage area or not.

Furthermore, right next to the storage area, there was a large iron door, and there was no locking mechanism at all. The door simply opened. It looked pitch black outside, like an underground passage.

So, wouldn't there be absolutely no way to know if people were going in and out of there?

How very typical of the NEC!

The NEC even claimed they hadn't checked the existing CCTV yet. They said they could only view it inside the gymnasium, and they hadn't been able to enter until now. 

I don't know what era they are living in. Even self-employed business owners these days monitor their CCTV remotely via mobile phones.  

An official from the NEC claimed that since they were the ones who set the password for the storage room, no one else could have entered. 

Are we supposed to believe that?

Haven't people already been going in and out? Didn't that person say they were in free communication with the outside? 

So how can we trust them? 

Not to mention, there was that iron door right next to it that just swung open...

Why didn't the special committee members open that door and go through it today? 

They should have obviously verified where that door led, shouldn't they?

Some committee members suggested moving the ballot boxes to the Songpa-gu NEC, while others suggested moving them to a more secure location as soon as possible.

No.

Absolutely not.

They must not be moved recklessly. 

They must not be touched. 

Today, the committee members didn't even check the state of the seals on the ballot boxes; they just stood around listening to the NEC’s excuses before leaving.

I don't know what they actually accomplished there.

If that was the case, why did they even go in?

The only way to resolve this situation is what I have already said.

A public investigation!

A recount (re-verification) broadcast live in front of the entire public!

The NEC staff must absolutely not be the ones doing the recount!

It must not be a situation where the NEC staff does the recount while the public or civic groups are merely allowed to observe or monitor!

This time, the public will do it themselves!

We have plenty of volunteers to do it!

So don't worry about the costs!

No matter how well a special prosecutor investigates, can we really trust a court ruling that is essentially one with the NEC?

Predicting the court's ruling: "While there were significant problems in election management, these were merely administrative shortcomings and did not affect the outcome, so we will not hold a re-election. The end!"

Isn't this what they are aiming for?

Is this really just my own thought?
