Vanguard announced on Wednesday (the 1st) that the U.S. Department of the Treasury has selected the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF as an investment option for Trump accounts. 

In a statement, Vanguard expressed its pleasure that one of its broad-market exchange-traded funds (ETFs) has been selected as an alternative, noting that Trump accounts provide innovative ways for Americans to save and invest for their children. 

Rodney Comegys, Vanguard’s Chief Investment Officer and head of its Equity Investment Group, said, "Trump accounts offer a meaningful opportunity for families to begin investing for their children early on." 

Comegys added, “This lays the foundation for financial literacy, stability, and confidence, and we are proud that the next generation of investors will be able to benefit from Vanguard’s long-standing, time-tested investment approach.”

Vanguard plans to support the transfer of Trump accounts upon receiving guidance from the Treasury Department.

While 401(k) accounts have been a significant help in retirement planning for Americans, a common issue within the $10 trillion 401(k) industry is that workers who change jobs frequently often end up holding multiple accounts with relatively small balances.

Ted Benna, known as the "father of the 401(k)," stated, "If Trump accounts become as widespread as some financial planners and wealth managers predict, they could resolve the long-standing problem of rolling over retirement and other qualified accounts."

According to Newsmax, Benna further noted that he believes this issue can be solved specifically through partnerships with reputable brands like Vanguard.

Meanwhile, President Trump announced on Wednesday (the 1st) that memory chip maker Micron has decided to invest (contribute) $250 million into the so-called 'Trump Accounts' designed for building future assets for newborns.

In a post on Truth Social that day, President Trump called it a "historic investment," adding, "Micron is investing directly in American workers and families. This is exactly what the highly successful 'Trump Accounts' were designed to achieve."

The 'Trump Accounts' project, which provides tax-deferred savings and investment accounts for American children, was a campaign pledge of President Trump and will officially launch on the 4th, marking the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
