Donald Trump giving a speech [UPI=Yonhap News]
In his speech commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding on the 4th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump tightened his ideological offensive against his political opposition, declaring, "America will never be a communist country."
Reflecting on the history of the United States since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, at the National Mall in Washington D.C., President Trump stated, "Communism is a loser, and it always will be."
President Trump emphasized, "The communist system is the exact opposite of the American system, and it has never worked properly," adding, "Our warriors have fought against communism on battlefields all over the world."
He then expressed his "proud gratitude to the veterans who served in the war against communism" and introduced Marine Sergeant Patrick Finn and Private Rudy Meekins, who participated in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, where U.S. and Chinese forces clashed during the Korean War.
President Trump’s remarks can be interpreted both as an emphasis on the historical fact that the U.S. established itself as the leader of the liberal democratic camp after two world wars and the subsequent Cold War, and as a move with an eye toward domestic U.S. politics.
In the U.S., the influence of democratic socialist forces—who seek to implement socialism through democratic processes—appears to be spreading, spurred by the recent progress of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and the so-called "Mamdani Squad."
Ahead of the November midterm elections, which will determine the congressional landscape for the latter half of his term, the speech can be read as an attempt to define his opposition as "communists"—enemies of America—and rally his base.
President Trump stated, "It (communism) is like a cancer. It must be cut out. It must be cut out quickly," adding, "We do not ever want communists in our country."
He added, "We will not let that happen," and said, "We want to stop such threats immediately, and before they even begin."
During the speech, President Trump declared, "America is back. We want to keep America great," asserting, "And we will do that by passing the SAVE Act."
The 'SAVE Act' is the 'Voter Identification Bill' that President Trump has repeatedly urged to be passed ahead of the midterm elections. Its core provisions include mandatory photo ID for voters, proof of citizenship, and a general ban on mail-in voting.
Commenting on the speech, the Associated Press assessed, "He mixed partisan politics with patriotic appeals," noting that "it was an unusually partisan stance for an Independence Day address, which presidents have historically used as an opportunity for national unity."
President Trump further emphasized that the U.S. military is the strongest in the world, stating, "We used it (military power) and achieved tremendous success. Look at Venezuela. Look at Iran. We eliminated it. We decimated their military."
On that same day, local time, the funeral for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike on the first day of the U.S.-Iran war, was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran. In Venezuela, the death toll from a massive earthquake has climbed to nearly 3,000.
President Trump stated, "No people have done more good, shown more courage, made more progress, righted more wrongs, and achieved more greatness than the American people," adding, "For 250 years, America has been a hope, a promise, a light, and a glory to every nation on earth."
He emphasized, "Over the past 250-plus years, the world has seen great empires, vast kingdoms, powerful nations, and fearsome tyrants. They have come and gone," adding, "250 years later, the American Republic still stands tall and strong."

Syngman Rhee's Diary of His Visit to the United States (P.222)
- August 5, 1954 In front of Truman's residence in the United States, to the crowds
Communists are working day and night to place this world under their rule. The Communists are coming. You must fight them in your villages, in your schools, in your churches, and even in your homes.
President Trump of the United States is like a reincarnation of President Syngman Rhee. If President Syngman Rhee had been the President of the United States, communism would have already collapsed. With America's formidable military power, China and the Soviet Union would have been defeated and become free nations.
Friends!
You must rise up and fight against communism.
You must fight communism as you fight a pandemic.
You must fight it like never before.
You must fight it everywhere.
In your country,
even in your homes,
you must fight communists everywhere.
