The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has deployed 260 agents to investigate election records from Georgia during the 2020 presidential election, the Associated Press reported on the 6th (local time).
According to the AP, the FBI has assigned 260 investigators and analysts to examine 708 election records from Fulton County, Georgia. Internal FBI documents indicate that this investigation is a "top priority," with a deadline for completion set for the 17th. An anonymous official confirmed to the AP that the investigation focuses on the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.
On January 28, the FBI executed a search warrant at the Fulton County Board of Elections in Georgia, seizing hundreds of boxes of election-related records. Fulton County, which was the target of the search, is located in Atlanta and is a traditional Democratic stronghold.
Since the 2020 presidential election, when he lost to then-candidate Joe Biden by a margin of approximately 11,000 votes in Georgia, former President Trump has consistently claimed that there was "election fraud."
Meanwhile, the AJC added that the Department of Justice under the Trump administration is also conducting investigations into the election commissions of Arizona and Wisconsin, states where President Trump was defeated in the 2020 election.
