U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 8th (local time) that he "does not think war will start again" with Iran.

President Trump made the remarks during a press conference in Türkiye, where the NATO summit was held, adding that "it (a strike against Iran) would be done quickly."

He continued, "They (Iran) attacked a few ships (passing through the Strait of Hormuz), and we hit them back harder," reiterating the possibility of further strikes that night while adding that "(any conflict) would not be long-term."

However, President Trump noted that while he "thought Iran's new leadership was reasonable, their actions over the past week or two suggest otherwise." He then hinted at a possible collapse of end-of-war negotiations by stating, "I'm not sure if I want to reach a deal (with Iran). Let's just get it done."

With Iran's attacks on merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on the 6th and 7th, followed by U.S. retaliatory airstrikes on the 7th, concerns are rising that the follow-up negotiations for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on ending the war between the two sides may be faltering.
