'The Queen of Pop' Madonna has topped the U.S. Billboard main album chart for the first time in seven years with her 15th studio album, 'CONFESSIONS II'.

In a chart preview article released on the 12th (local time), Billboard announced that Madonna's new album 'CONFESSIONS II' debuted at number one on the 'Billboard 200,' the main album chart.

This marks Madonna's first time reaching the top of the 'Billboard 200' in seven years since the release of 'Madame X' in 2019, and it is her 10th number-one album overall.

After first hitting number one on the 'Billboard 200' with 'Like a Virgin' in 1985, Madonna has consistently topped the chart from the 1980s through the 2020s with albums such as 'True Blue,' 'Music,' and 'Confessions on a Dance Floor.'

Billboard noted, "Madonna has become the first artist to earn a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in the 2020s who also scored No. 1s in three other decades (the 1980s, 2000s, and 2010s)."

The 'Billboard 200' ranks albums based on multi-metric consumption, which combines traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

During the current tracking period, 'CONFESSIONS II' earned 134,000 equivalent album units, with 114,000 of those coming from pure album sales. SEA units totaled 19,000, while TEA units were negligible.

Madonna's new record serves as a sequel and extension to her 2005 album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor,' reinterpreting rave culture (the club and party scene of the 90s).

The album features a total of 16 tracks, including 'I Feel So Free' and 'Bring Your Love.' [Yonhap News]
