It has recently been made known that a candidate for a national technical qualification exam was referred to a summary trial for committing academic dishonesty using glasses equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

According to the legal community on the 13th, the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office indicted an individual in their 40s, identified as A, last month on charges of violating the National Technical Qualifications Act.

A is accused of wearing AI glasses, which are prohibited from being brought into the exam room, while taking the Fire Equipment Engineer certification exam on May 15.

A proctor caught the cheating on the spot after noticing A's suspicious behavior, such as eye movements that did not appear to be focused on solving the problems.

The prosecution, having received the case from the police, requested the court to issue a summary order for A.

A summary indictment is a procedure where the prosecution requests the court to impose a fine or penalty through a document review only, rather than a formal trial.

If the party involved or the court raises an objection, the case will be referred to a formal trial.
