The U.S. military has attacked Iranian military facilities for five consecutive days. Unlike previous strikes, which were primarily conducted at night, this operation was carried out in broad daylight.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which is conducting military operations against Iran, announced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that day, "We conducted morning strikes targeting Iran. The operation was completed at 7:30 a.m. EST."
CENTCOM explained that during the approximately 90-minute operation, precision-guided munitions were dropped on Iranian coastal defense systems and cruise missile storage and launch facilities on Greater Tunb Island.
The command emphasized, "This strike further degrades Iran’s ability to conduct attacks that have threatened commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz region."
This marks the fifth consecutive day since the 11th that the U.S. military has conducted airstrikes to weaken Iran's military capability to attack civilian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Notably, this airstrike occurred during the day rather than at night. Since the 90-minute operation concluded at 7:30 a.m. EST, the strikes began at 6:00 a.m. EST, which corresponds to 1:30 p.m. local time in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
In the title of its X post reporting the airstrikes against Iran, CENTCOM stated, "Conducted morning round of strikes against Iran."
Meanwhile, CENTCOM also stated in another X post that it had forced two merchant ships attempting to breach the U.S. maritime blockade against Iran to turn back.
Following instructions from U.S. President Donald Trump, the U.S. military had resumed the blockade of all vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports and coasts through the Strait of Hormuz as of 4:00 p.m. EST the previous day, aiming to constrict Iran's funding sources. [Yonhap News]
