U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached a consensus during their summit that a peace treaty is necessary to effectively end the war in Ukraine.

President Trump stated via his social media platform, Truth Social, on the 15th (local time), "We agreed that the best way to end this terrible war is to go straight to a peace treaty, rather than a simple ceasefire agreement."

He further explained, "This is because ceasefire agreements are often not honored."

Previously, during a joint press conference held immediately after their summit in Alaska, both President Trump and President Putin stated, "We have made some progress," but did not disclose specific details.

However, according to President Trump's remarks on Truth Social, it appears that the two leaders also discussed concrete measures for establishing a peace treaty.

Reflecting on the day, he remarked, "We had a great, very successful day in Alaska."

He added, "The summit went very well, and the phone calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the NATO Secretary General, and other European leaders also went well."

President Trump disclosed that President Zelenskyy is scheduled to visit the White House on the 18th, expressing his anticipation by saying, "If everything goes well, we will schedule another meeting with President Putin afterward."
