(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Ko Il-hwan = U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reached an agreement on the claim that the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election were manipulated.
According to Reuters on the 15th (local time), President Trump stated in an interview with Fox News after the summit in Alaska, "Putin mentioned that the 2020 presidential election was also rigged and that I won."
He added, "President Putin said that an honest election cannot be held through mail-in ballots."
President Trump, who described President Putin as a "smart person," added, "He said that there are no countries in the world currently that conduct mail-in voting."
President Trump also maintains his position that election fraud occurred in the 2020 presidential election.
He claims that his loss to former President Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate at the time, was due to election fraud.
The mail-in ballot, used for absentee and early voting, is what President Trump has identified as the means of election fraud.
President Trump reiterated on this day, "We cannot maintain a great democracy with mail-in ballots," emphasizing the need to reform the election system.
During the summit, which lasted nearly three hours, the two leaders did not reach an agreement on the most pressing issue, the end of the war in Ukraine, but they did reach an agreement on the issues of election fraud and mail-in ballots.
Meanwhile, President Trump claimed, "Putin also stated that 'the U.S. lacked vitality during the Biden administration, but now it is full of vitality.'"
