  • Frank Gaffney to President Trump: “Time to Make It Clear That Unfair Treatment Will Not Be Tolerated”

Frank J. Gaffney Jr., a U.S. defense policy analyst and founder of the national security think tank Center for Security Policy (CSP), has called on President Donald Trump to speak out regarding former Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice Morse Tan.

On Wednesday the 15th, Gaffney posted a video message on Substack titled, "Memo to the President - Tell this President to release Ambassador Tan."

Gaffney, who hosts "Securing America" on Real America's Voice (RAV), referred to Lee Jae-myung as a "communist" in the video and described South Korea as being "entirely in the grip of far-left forces."

Gaffney emphasized that President Trump must make it clear to Lee Jae-myung that the unjust treatment of former Ambassador Tan is utterly unacceptable.

The following is the full text of Gaffney's one-minute remarks:

Morse Tan is a freedom-fighter who served as Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice during the first Trump administration. Currently, he is effectively being held as a political prisoner in South Korea.

Ambassador Tan has long spoken truth to power. In particular, he has warned of how extremely South Korea's radical left-wing forces have undermined freedom and elections. He has courageously voiced these concerns even within Korea itself.

Now that far-left forces led by the communist Lee Jae-myung have completely seized power in Seoul, Ambassador Tan has been prevented from leaving South Korea for over five weeks. This is outrageous.

When Lee Jae-myung visited Washington last year, President Trump did not criticize him, despite numerous serious concerns regarding his decades-long anti-American activities. Now is the time for Mr. Trump to make it clear to Lee Jae-myung that the current unjust treatment of Ambassador Tan is utterly unacceptable.

These remarks follow a press release issued the previous day by the non-profit organization Save the Persecuted Christians (STPC), which disseminated Ambassador Tan's claims that his travel ban is an act of "lawfare" motivated by political reasons.

Gaffney served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy from 1983 to 1987 and acted as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs for seven months during the Reagan administration. He received the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service in 1987 and was described by Senator Ted Cruz during his 2016 presidential campaign as a "serious thinker who has focused on fighting the jihadists and fighting the jihad worldwide."

It is known that President Trump has shaped his immigration and anti-Muslim policy framework by incorporating the statements and proposals advocated by Gaffney and the CSP he founded.
