 Cho Yong-beom, the new Vice Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Budget [Provided by the Blue House]

President Lee Jae-myung appointed Cho Yong-beom (55), the current Budget Office Director at the Ministry of Planning and Budget, as the new Vice Minister, Blue House Chief Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced in a written briefing on the 20th.


A native of Jeju, the new Vice Minister Cho previously served at the Ministry of Economy and Finance as Director of the Budget Coordination Division, Spokesperson, and Director General for Budget Coordination.


Chief Spokesperson Kang described him as "an elite expert who has held key positions throughout the budget and finance sectors," adding, "He is particularly recognized for his contributions to stabilizing public livelihoods and economic recovery, such as securing the passage of a supplementary budget in record time to overcome the crisis caused by the Middle East war in the first half of this year, and exceeding fiscal execution targets."


She further emphasized, "Based on his expertise in budget and finance, he will be able to establish mid-to-long-term national development strategies and support South Korea's great leap forward through strategic investments in future-oriented areas such as artificial intelligence (AI)."
