(Washington=Yonhap News) Correspondent Hong Jeong-gyu = U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 17th (local time) that there has been "BIG PROGRESS ON RUSSIA" and urged people to "STAY TUNED."
President Trump made these remarks in a post on his social media service (SNS) Truth Social regarding his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on the 15th.
However, President Trump did not disclose any specific details about the summit.
In another post, President Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the media's coverage of the summit, stating, "The fake news always distorts the truth about me. No matter what I say or do, they do not report it accurately."
He then claimed, "I had a great meeting (with President Putin) in Alaska regarding Biden’s (former president's) foolish war that should never have happened."
This is interpreted as a response to critical domestic media coverage, which stated that despite meeting President Putin in Alaska on the 15th to end the war in Ukraine, the outcome of the summit was a "no deal," contrary to the grand welcome.
Meanwhile, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House on the 18th.
Depending on the results, there are also speculations that a trilateral summit between President Trump, President Zelensky, and President Putin may be arranged within this week.
