The U.S. military launched additional airstrikes against Iran on the 20th (local time).

The U.S. Central Command, which oversees the Middle East, stated on its X account that day, "At 4 p.m. Eastern Time today, acting on the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief (President Donald Trump), we have initiated new airstrikes against Iran."

It further stated, "These airstrikes are intended to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities used in attacks on merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."

With this, the U.S. military's nighttime airstrikes against Iran have continued for ten consecutive days.

President Trump declared his strong resolve to retaliate for the deaths of U.S. service members via his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "Every time Iran kills a U.S. soldier, they will pay a multiple of that cost."

As the fragile truce between the U.S. and Iran falters, U.S. military casualties have occurred in succession recently.

On the 17th, two U.S. service members stationed at an air base in Jordan were killed in an Iranian missile and drone attack, and on the 18th, an additional U.S. soldier died in Iraq while disposing of an unexploded Iranian drone.
