A letter has been revealed in which former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump appeals to President Vladimir Putin to achieve peace for children suffering from the war in Ukraine.

On the 17th (local time), President Trump posted a copy of the letter on his social media service, Truth Social, which is understood to have been delivered to President Putin through him during the U.S.-Russia summit held in Alaska on the 15th.

In the letter, Melania Trump urged President Putin, "As parents, our duty is to nurture hope for the next generation," and asked him to grant peace to all children.

She stated that all children are born with "an innocence that transcends geography, government, and ideology," but in today's world, some children cannot laugh out loud, adding, "You alone can bring back the melody of children's laughter."

She continued, "By protecting the innocence of these children, you will be serving not only Russia but humanity itself. Such a bold vision transcends all divisions of humanity, and Mr. Putin, you can implement this vision with a single stroke of your pen today," she urged.

Previously, Reuters reported that President Trump personally delivered the letter to President Putin at the U.S.-Russia summit held in Alaska on the 15th.

Melania Trump, who is from Slovenia, did not accompany the summit and did not directly mention Ukraine in the letter.

Foreign media outlets reported that the reason for Melania's mention of children is related to Russia's forced transfer of children from occupied Ukrainian territories to mainland Russia.
