(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jun-tae = Ms. Moon Da-hye, daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, who was investigated for alleged failure to donate money raised at a charity event, has been cleared of charges.

The Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 18th that it would not forward the case of fraud and embezzlement charges against Ms. Moon to the prosecution.

Ms. Moon was accused of failing to keep her promise to donate the proceeds after holding a charity bazaar exhibition at her gallery in December 2022.

It was reported that she promoted that she would donate the proceeds from the auction of artworks donated by about 30 artists to a non-profit foundation. The police received a petition in October last year stating that the funds raised were not transferred to the foundation.

Upon reviewing Ms. Moon's financial records, the police confirmed that the funds raised were not withdrawn and remained deposited in the charity exhibition fundraising account.

However, the police explained the reason for not forwarding the case, stating that Ms. Moon did not use the funds for personal purposes and had no intention of deceiving the artists or embezzling money.

Ms. Moon was reportedly stated in a previous police investigation that she did not donate because the amount was less than expected and that she forgot about it while living a busy life.
