Political rhetoric that lacks consistency fails to resonate deeply with the public, and actions devoid of honest self-reflection inevitably undermine the very foundation of leadership.

During the 2024 general election, Jang Dong-hyeok, then a member of the People Power Party’s nomination management committee, singled out candidate Min Kyung-wook as a "public figure spreading conspiracy theories about election fraud" and excluded him from the nomination.

The reason cited was that claims of election fraud caused significant harm to the party and society. However, as specific evidence of electoral malpractice—such as poor management of ballots and signs of computer manipulation by election commission officials—has recently come to light, one cannot help but point out the massive disconnect between the strictly punitive stance he took in the past and his current position.

Recently, Representative Jang Dong-hyeok has belatedly joined the "Olympic Park" civic movement, calling for "re-elections due to electoral fraud." His passionate efforts and engagement with the grassroots across the country are certainly worthy of applause. Yet, despite these active measures, it is impossible to shake the feeling that something crucial—that final "2 percent"—is missing.

His passion for traveling to the front lines and raising his voice is valuable and has been well-received by the conservative base. However, if a politician who, until just recently, dismissed claims of election fraud as conspiracy theories now silently climbs on the bandwagon without any explanation or reflection, it is impossible to avoid criticism that this is merely a tactical choice to escape a crisis. We must focus not on the status of a party representative, but on the banner he truly stands behind.

The Only Key to Filling the Missing 2%: "Self-Confession"

The only key to filling that missing 2% is "self-confession." Only when a sincere confession and repentance regarding why his past judgments were wrong and what he overlooked come first, will his every action gain true sincerity. Change without the prerequisite of self-reflection is merely a move to shift the narrative and a repetition of opportunistic behavior that piggybacks on public outrage.

Meaningful decisions are already being made within the conservative camp. Representative Joo Jin-woo has recently been continuously criticizing the actions of the National Election Commission, changing his previous stance that claims of election fraud were a form of "right-wing defeatism," and asserting that they can no longer be dismissed as mere conspiracy theories.

Kim Young-hwan, former Governor of North Chungcheong Province, who also did not acknowledge the election fraud claims, stated that witnessing the current situation has led him to bow his head in apology to the patriotic citizens who have fought to uncover election fraud despite prejudice, indifference, and contempt.

Former presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo is also lending his weight to the quest for justice, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the election process. After witnessing the truth, they have frankly acknowledged their misjudgments and bowed their heads.

South Korea in Crisis: Jang Dong-hyeok is More Than Just a Party Representative

What Representative Jang needs right now is not merely survival as an individual politician. He must clearly recognize himself as standing at the vanguard of a "unified right-wing front" that can save a South Korea teetering on the edge of a crisis, slipping into totalitarian runaway rule due to total electoral fraud.

He must also realize that the starting point of that unified front is a sincere reflection and confession regarding his own past errors.

The moment that sincerity is confirmed, the patriotic citizens who have stood in the wind, snow, and on scorching asphalt without any selfish motives—only for the sake of future generations and a free South Korea—will give Representative Jang Dong-hyeok their full support. Only then will Representative Jang finally gain the most powerful strength to fight the cartel of injustice.

I hope he remembers that sincere self-reflection is the first step toward building the strongest possible unified front.
