(Washington=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Sung-min = U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 18th (local time), ahead of his planned discussions at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders regarding an end to the war in Ukraine, "I know exactly what I'm doing."
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, which he founded, Trump wrote, "I am only here to stop the war, not to prosecute it further."
He also criticized, "I don't need advice from people who have been doing this for years on all of these conflicts and couldn't stop the war. They are STUPID people with no common sense and no intelligence or understanding, and they are only making it harder to solve the current R/U disaster."
President Trump further emphasized, "Despite all of the criticism that I am being taken lightly and very much disparaged, I will get it done. I always do."
These remarks are interpreted as a manifestation of dissatisfaction with the anti-Trump camp and media outlets that criticized the outcome of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on the 15th, which resulted in a "no-deal ceasefire."
After boasting, "I have solved 6 wars in 6 months, one of which had a potential nuclear disaster," President Trump said, "Yet I have to read and listen to the Wall Street Journal and others who really don't have a solution, telling me what I am doing wrong on the messy Russia-Ukraine situation. This is Sleepy Joe's war, not mine."
In another post, he wrote, "I am completely sure that if Russia were to put their hands up and say, 'We give up. We admit defeat and surrender. We will give Moscow and St. Petersburg and everything within 1,000 miles of them to Ukraine and to the great United States, the most respected, admired and powerful nation among all nations,' the fake news media and their Democrat partners would say this is a bad and humiliating day for Trump and one of the worst days in the history of our country."
Regarding the arrival of President Zelensky and European leaders at the White House that day, President Trump stated, "It's a big day. We've never had so many European leaders here at one time. It's a great honor for the United States. Let's see what happens."
