President Donald Trump stated on Friday (the 22nd) that he was not briefed in advance about the FBI raid on the home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton, telling reporters that he first heard the news on TV.

When asked by reporters whether he had been informed of the raid beforehand, President Trump replied, "No, I don't know anything about it. I saw it on TV this morning."

Newsmax reported, citing sources, that the search is focused on the handling of classified documents and national security secrets.

The president harshly criticized Bolton, who served as National Security Advisor from 2018 to 2019.

He remarked, "I don't like John Bolton. He is a real low-life."

Trump described Bolton as someone who is "always looking to kill people" and "very bad at what he does," though he added that Bolton's presence was sometimes useful to his interests in foreign meetings.

According to Trump, this is because other governments assumed that because of Bolton's reputation, the U.S. might take a more aggressive stance.

When asked if he expected a briefing from the Department of Justice regarding the raid, Trump replied, "Yes, probably later today."

Bolton joined the Trump administration in 2018 but was dismissed the following year after clashing with the president on various issues ranging from Iran to North Korea. Since then, the two have repeatedly criticized each other publicly; Bolton published a memoir criticizing Trump's foreign policy, and Trump has frequently disparaged his former advisor as incompetent and disloyal.

Last week, Trump strongly criticized remarks Bolton made regarding the summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Before the summit, Bolton warned in an interview that the meeting could undermine Ukraine and Western allies and grant Putin excessive control.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized the situation, stating, "There is a very dishonest media at work regarding my meeting with Putin," adding that they "keep quoting fired losers and really foolish people, like John Bolton, who say that even if the meeting were held on U.S. soil, 'Putin has already won.'"
