North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un will attend the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in China's war of resistance against Japan, to be held in Beijing on the 3rd of next month at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Korean Central News Agency reported on the 28th.

The agency reported that Chairman Kim will "visit the People's Republic of China soon to attend the 80th anniversary ceremony of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War of Victory, at the invitation of Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China."

Hong Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, also announced the list of attendees, including Chairman Kim Jong Un, at a press briefing on the same day, stating that "26 foreign heads of state and government leaders will attend the commemorative activities at the invitation of President Xi Jinping."

If Chairman Kim, who has no precedent of attending multilateral diplomatic events, attends China's military parade, it would mark his debut on the multilateral diplomatic stage. Yonhap News
