U.S. President Donald Trump asserted on the 28th (local time) that the Republican Party will win big in the midterm elections next November, stating, "We are poised for a great Republican victory in the midterms, based on the great success we are having right now."

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, "The Republican Party is doing very well right now. Millions of people are joining our 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) journey," and expressed this sentiment.

He stated, "We are raising much more money than the Democrats, doing a great job fixing the nation-destroying mistakes made by the Biden administration, and we are seeing America heal and prosper."

He added, "The results are unbelievably amazing and happening at a record pace," and "In that context, I am going to recommend that the Republican Party hold its National Convention just before the midterm elections. This has never been done before."

The midterm elections next November, which will elect members of the House and Senate, as well as governors, are seen as a mid-term evaluation of a potential second Trump administration, and their results are expected to significantly influence President Trump's future governance.

Currently, the Republican Party holds a majority in both the federal Senate and House of Representatives. However, if the Democratic Party prevents the Republican majority in the upcoming midterm elections, it could disrupt the legislative progress of key policies of the Trump administration.

While national conventions for U.S. political parties are typically held in presidential election years to nominate presidential candidates, Trump's suggestion to hold a convention just before the midterm elections is interpreted as an expression of political confidence aimed at galvanizing his support base.

The previous day, President Trump also announced via Truth Social that he had raised $1.5 billion (approximately 2 trillion won) in political funds since the last presidential election.
