Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services, announced on Wednesday the 27th that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has withdrawn its emergency use authorization for COVID-19 vaccines.

Kennedy wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I pledged four things: 1. End COVID vaccine mandates. 2. Continue to make vaccines available for those who want them, especially the vulnerable. 3. Require placebo-controlled trials from pharmaceutical companies. 4. End the emergency."

He added, "Today, through a series of actions by the FDA, all four of my goals have been achieved. The emergency use authorization for COVID-19 vaccines, which was used to justify widespread mandates on the general public under the Biden administration, is now withdrawn."

He further stated, "The FDA has issued marketing approvals for Moderna (6 months and older), Pfizer (5 months and older), and Novavax (12 months and older) for those at high risk. These vaccines will be available to any patient who chooses them after consulting with their doctor. The American people demanded science, safety, and common sense. This framework meets all three."

Kennedy expressed his gratitude to FDA Director Marty Makary for his leadership.
