Lee Jin-sook, Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, answers a question during a plenary session of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 26th. Yonhap News.
The People Power Party criticized the presidential office's review of the dismissal of Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jin-sook, who was appointed by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, stating on the 30th that "while disguised as a violation of political neutrality, it is ultimately just a move to control broadcasting."
Park Seong-hoon, the senior spokesperson, stated in a commentary that day, "This is a scheme to oust Chairperson Lee, who is an eyesore, in order to block broadcasts that voice inconvenient opinions to the progressive government," and made the remarks.
He referred to a statement made by Im Eun-jeong, a prosecutor at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, at a forum held at the National Assembly the previous day, targeting Justice Minister Chung Sung-ho's prosecution reform plan, stating, "Even Minister Chung is being controlled by the prosecution." He added, "If the violation of political neutrality is so important in the eyes of the Lee Jae-myung administration, then Prosecutor Im Eun-jeong should be held to the same standard." He continued, "With the same logic and standard, Prosecutor Im should have already been dismissed."
He further emphasized, "If President Yoon dismisses only Chairperson Lee and protects Prosecutor Im, he will never be able to escape legal responsibility for the abuse of power."
