The ruling Democratic Party of Korea's decision on Thursday (28th) to quickly process a special tribunal for rebellion has crossed a dangerous line, reported The Gateway Pundit (TGP), a right-wing US media outlet, on Friday (29th).

TGP stated, "This is not a normal judicial process. It is an attempt to strip regular courts of their authority and create a parallel tribunal to guarantee convictions." It added, "In reality, this is akin to creating a communist-style pseudo-court, one that is only a semblance of a court but not in substance, and using it as a tool for political oppression."

This report comes after the Democratic Party of Korea condemned the judiciary and announced its intention to accelerate the establishment of a 'special rebellion tribunal' following the Supreme Court's rejection of a request for an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.

According to Yonhap News, the Democratic Party plans to submit the bill for the establishment of a special rebellion tribunal as early as Thursday, September 4th.

Senior members of the Democratic Party declared, "The regular judiciary is untrustworthy. We need a special committee to handle rebellion charges."

TGP reported, "On social media and in press conferences, Democratic Party figures have called for the 'swift reapplication of sentences' and have characterized judicial independence as an obstacle to 'ending the rebellion'." They called this "nothing more than Stalinist tactics."

TGP explains Stalinist tactics as follows:

- Labeling political opponents as 'rebels' to legitimize special trials.

- Disregarding an independent judiciary in favor of selected courts loyal to the ruling party.

- Transforming legal language into a weapon for political purges.

TGP pointed out, "This is how the communist people's courts of the 20th century operated. They mimicked the form of a court but used it as a political tool, and the Democratic Party is now attempting to replicate this in Korea. This is a direct attack on the separation of powers and the rule of law."

Jim Hoft, founder and editor of TGP, warned, "This is not justice. It is a judicial charade to consolidate authoritarian control." He added, "If this is not checked, no opposition leader, dissident, or ordinary citizen will be safe from arbitrary prosecution."

Hoft urged, "We call on international observers, human rights organizations, and democratic allies to closely examine these developments." He stated, "'Special Rebellion Tribunals' are entirely incompatible with democratic governance. This is a signal that Korea's judiciary is transforming into an institution controlled by a political party."

TGP is a media outlet representing the MAGA movement, which has emerged as a mainstream force within the Republican Party. The outlet is showing interest in Korean affairs in light of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's visit to the United States, specifically expressing caution by pointing out that the Lee Jae-myung administration is a pro-China leftist government.

This "MAGA caution towards the Korean left" phenomenon is also prominent on the social media platform X.

Recently, Kim Seong-won, CEO of Ground C, a conservative South Korean YouTube channel, posted a video on X asking the Minister of Foreign Affairs if there was an intention to ban entry for Rep. Kim Joon-hyung of the Democratic Party, who mentioned the names of Moishe, Gordon Chang, Steve Bannon of 'MAGA', and Laura Loomer, and questioned if they would be subject to entry bans for claiming election fraud in South Korea.

Loomer quoted this video on Wednesday (27th) and wrote, "The Korean left is talking about me and saying I need to be held accountable for speaking out about election fraud and Chinese influence on Korean elections on my show and website."

Carla Sands, former US Ambassador to Denmark, quoted a Chosun Ilbo article on Friday (29th) and pointed out, "What is happening in Korea seems similar to the J6 show trials in the United States."

J6 refers to the events of January 6, 2021, at the Capitol, and 'show trials' refers to the prosecution of individuals involved, defining those events as 'insurrection or rebellion'. Hundreds were unjustly arrested, tried, and sentenced at that time.

President Trump pardoned most of them after being re-elected.

In addition to the international election observers who visited Korea during the early presidential election on June 3rd, the number of MAGA figures criticizing the leftist regime in South Korea continues to grow.

Grant Newsham, a senior research fellow at the Policy Studies Center, argued, "The leftist Democratic Party regime can achieve its long-term goal of seizing a one-party dictatorship connected to China, North Korea, and anti-Americanism." He stated, "This is a tragedy for (Korea) and a disaster for (the US and Korea), and the US government is taking no action to prevent it. They are closing their eyes."

Newsham has been emphasizing daily that the Trump administration needs to act more proactively to protect liberal democracy in South Korea.
