Kim Sei-young, who played 32 holes in a grueling schedule, is tied for 2nd place, 3 shots behind, at the LPGA FM Championship 3R.

Kim Sei-young, known as the 'magician in red pants' for her frequent come-from-behind victories in the final round of the U.S. Women's Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour while wearing red pants, will attempt to win the FM Championship in the final round.

On the 31st (Korean time), Kim Sei-young shot a 1-under par 71 in the third round of the tournament held at Boston TPC (par 72) in Norton, Massachusetts.

With a cumulative score of 15-under par 201, Kim Sei-young will enter the final round three shots behind the leader, Miranda Wang (China).

This is an opportunity for Kim Sei-young to achieve her 13th LPGA Tour victory, her first in five years since winning the Pelican Championship in 2020.

Kim Sei-young has been on a strong run, finishing in the top 10 four times in the seven tournaments she has played since June.

Kim Sei-young played a grueling 32 holes in a single day.

This was because the second round was only played over four holes due to weather delays the previous day.

Kim Sei-young, who had reduced her score by one stroke in four holes the previous day, soared in the 14 remaining holes of the second round, which began early in the morning before the third round.

She further reduced her score by six strokes with one eagle and five birdies.

Although Kim Sei-young finished the second round with a 7-under par 65, leading by three strokes over Wang with a cumulative score of 14-under par 130, she faltered in the third round.

She conceded the co-lead to Wang by recording consecutive bogeys on holes 2 and 3.

She sank her first birdie of the day on the 7th hole (par 5), but lost another stroke on the 9th hole (par 4). Meanwhile, Wang surged ahead with consecutive birdies on holes 6 and 7.

Kim Sei-young turned the momentum around with a birdie on the 12th hole (par 5) and recovered with birdies on the 16th hole (par 3) and 18th hole (par 5).

However, the in-form Wang also added three birdies on holes 12 (par 5), 14 (par 4), and 18, maintaining a three-shot lead.

Kim Sei-young said, "I was a bit frustrated with a few bogeys in the front nine (of the third round). I lost my rhythm. I tried hard to refocus, and I regained my rhythm well in the back nine."

"I don't remember the last time I played so many holes in a day," Kim Sei-young said. "I hope to play like the back nine today tomorrow. I will do my best," she vowed.

Rookie Wang, a graduate of the prestigious Duke University and who competed on the Epson Tour before entering the LPGA Tour this year, has a best finish of 3rd place in the team event Dow Championship and tied for 8th at Blue Bay LPGA.

Wang, who reduced her score by five strokes in the second round, followed it up with a blistering putting performance, finishing 18 holes in just 24 putts in the third round to shoot a 7-under par 65, fueling her hopes for a career-first victory.

Wang said, "My putting started to come alive from the back nine of the first round. Today, I gained more confidence after sinking a long 18-meter putt for birdie on the 7th hole. There are still 18 holes left, and anything can happen."

Rose Zhang (USA), who shot a 5-under par 67, is tied for 2nd place with Kim Sei-young.

World No. 1 Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand) and Korean-American Andrea Lee (USA) will play in the final round tied for 4th place at 14-under par 202.

Park Geum-gang jumped to a tie for 6th place (13-under par 203) after shooting a daily best score of 8-under par 64.

Choi Hye-jin and 'Hot Six' Lee Jeong-eun are tied for 13th place (9-under par 207) along with Nelly Korda (USA).

Defending champion Ryu Hae-ran finished tied for 23rd place (7-under par 209).

Park Sung-hyun and Yoon Ina remained tied for 53rd place (3-under par 213). Yonhap News
