Infielder Kim Ha-seong (29), who had been playing for the Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball (MLB), has moved to the Atlanta Braves.

MLB.com reported on the 2nd (Korean time) that "the Tampa Bay Rays designated Kim Ha-seong for assignment, and the Atlanta Braves have acquired him."

Kim, who played for the San Diego Padres through the 2024 season, joined the Tampa Bay Rays as a free agent ahead of this season.

Having signed a two-year, $29 million contract, Kim began playing in Major League games in early July following his recovery from a shoulder injury sustained during the previous season.

Kim’s performance with Tampa Bay this year stands at a .214 batting average, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs in 24 games.

Atlanta, which acquired Kim, holds a 62-75 record this season and sits in 4th place out of five teams in the National League East, leaving the team with slim chances for "fall baseball" (the postseason).
