President Donald Trump announces plans to relocate the U.S. Space Command at the White House in Washington, D.C., on the 2nd (local time).
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 2nd (local time) that he would request an expedited ruling from the Supreme Court to determine the legality of his tariff imposition.
It appears that the administration is seeking to secure a "reversal" from the Supreme Court as quickly as possible to maintain policy continuity, following a U.S. federal appeals court's decision that effectively put a brake on the government's tariff policy.
After announcing plans for the U.S. Space Command relocation at the White House, President Trump said during a Q&A session with reporters, "This case is going to the Supreme Court now," adding, "We are going to file for an expedited review tomorrow and ask for a swift ruling."
Currently, the Supreme Court maintains a solid 6-3 conservative majority.
President Trump stated, "If we get rid of tariffs, the U.S. could turn into a third-world country. That is why this ruling is so important, and why we are requesting an expedited decision."
He further added, "Without tariffs, we would be a different country. A lot of money is already coming in (due to the tariff policy)," and noted, "We have concluded a deal with Japan, and Japan will pay us hundreds of billions of dollars. We have also concluded deals with South Korea and the European Union (EU). These countries will pay us $850 billion."
President Trump expressed his expectations for the final ruling, saying, "The Supreme Court is filled with excellent people, and they have been making very wise decisions."
