The Jo Eun-seok Special Prosecutor's Team, investigating allegations of obstructing the vote to lift martial law, re-attempted a search and seizure of the People Power Party's floor leader's office on the 3rd.
According to legal circles, the special prosecutor's team has been attempting to re-execute search and seizure warrants for the People Power Party's floor leader's office and administrative offices since this morning.
The special prosecutor's team reportedly attempted search and seizure at these locations yesterday as well, but was unable to execute the warrants and withdrew due to opposition from the opposition party.
The opposition party is resisting, arguing that the National Assembly is a "Class A protective facility" and cannot be accessed without the Speaker's permission. They also claim that the period for items to be seized, as stated in the warrant, is excessively long, dating back to May of last year.
National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik is currently abroad to attend the Victory Day celebrations in Beijing, China.
The special prosecutor's team is investigating allegations that former People Power Party Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho, upon receiving a request from former President Yoon Suk-yeol's side, obstructed other lawmakers from participating in the vote to lift martial law by repeatedly changing the location of the party's general assembly.
In relation to this, the homes, offices, and vehicles of former Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho were searched and seized yesterday, and relevant materials were secured. The offices of People Power Party lawmaker Jo Ji-yeon and the mobile phones of party secretariat staff were also included in the search and seizure targets.
