Responding to successive searches with counter-accusations to the special prosecutor... highlighting their 'ferocious' stance while simultaneously engaging in public opinion warfare
Party leadership escalates rhetoric, calling the special prosecutor's investigation a "low-level violence by political thugs" and a "people's tribunal-style probe."

The People Power Party, which had been on the defensive against the ruling party's "end-of-rebellion" drive spearheaded by the special prosecutor's investigation, is now dramatically escalating its fight against the government in an attempt to turn the tables.
In response to the special prosecutor's investigation, which extended to a search and seizure of the floor leader's office, the party has not only physically resisted but also initiated the process of filing complaints. Furthermore, in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, where amendments to the special prosecutor bill are being discussed, the party is showing clear signs of transforming into a "strong opposition party" by collectively resisting the agenda's introduction.
The People Power Party held an emergency Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly today, strongly condemning the search and seizure conducted by the special prosecutor team on charges of rebellion the previous day.
Party Leader Jang Dong-hyuk denounced it as "low-level violence by political thugs hiding behind the guise of law," while Floor Leader Song Eon-seok raised his voice, calling it a "communist-style people's tribunal-style special prosecutor's investigation that predetermines the outcome."
The special prosecutor team led by Cho Eun-seok, investigating suspicions of rebellion related to the December 3rd state of emergency martial law, conducted searches and seizures on the offices of lawmakers Choo Kyung-ho and Cho Ji-yeon, followed by the floor leader's office in the National Assembly building. The People Power Party leadership has labeled this as a "probe aimed at eradicating the opposition party" and has fiercely criticized it.
Yesterday, lawmakers rushed to the scene of the search and seizure to prevent its execution. Moreover, the party has decided to pursue legal action directly targeting the special prosecutor.
Park Seong-hoon, the chief spokesperson, told reporters at the National Assembly today that "the Committee for the Defense of Judicial Justice and Prevention of Dictatorship will review the matter, and we plan to file a complaint against Special Prosecutor Cho as soon as possible."
The response at the committee level has also intensified.
The People Power Party, which had anticipated a head-on confrontation by nominating five-term lawmaker Na Kyung-won as the opposition's whip in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, chaired by six-term Democratic Party lawmaker Choo Mi-ae, saw its affiliated committee members collectively protest when Chairperson Choo rejected the motion to appoint Rep. Na as whip the previous day.
The meeting devolved into chaos as Democratic Party committee members engaged in heated arguments with the People Power Party members, condemning the rejection of the agenda item.
The People Power Party immediately followed up with public opinion warfare outside the parliament. Rep. Na stated on Facebook, "Chairperson Choo is denying parliamentary history herself," and argued, "This is not a parliament but parliamentary dictatorship, and merely the prelude to Democratic Party dictatorship."
This response appears to be driven by a desire to highlight the party's resolve not to be passively dragged along by the unilateral offensive from the special prosecutor and the ruling party.
A source within the party leadership stated, "With the launch of the new leadership, we will show a united front and a strong response," adding, "While the methods of struggle are not new, we will address the shortcomings of the past."
The People Power Party is scheduled to hold an emergency party caucus at the National Assembly today to discuss countermeasures against the special prosecutor's search and seizure, and plans to intensify public opinion efforts by holding condemnation rallies to expose the illegitimacy of the special prosecutor's investigation.
