LG Energy Solution's Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) has departed for the United States on the 7th to address the situation where approximately 300 personnel, including those from partner companies, were detained during an immigration crackdown at a battery plant in Georgia, U.S.

Kim Ki-soo, CHO and Executive Managing Director at LG Energy Solution, stated at Incheon International Airport this morning, "The immediate priority is the swift and early release of all our LG Energy Solution employees and our partner company employees," adding, "As the government is also making full efforts to respond, we will do our utmost to ensure everyone returns safely and quickly."

When asked about his response plans in the U.S. or the condition of the detained employees, the Executive Managing Director made no comment and proceeded to the departure gate.

On the 4th (local time), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a large-scale immigration crackdown at the construction site of the joint battery plant (HL-GA Battery Company) by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Savannah, Georgia.

As a result, 47 individuals from LG Energy Solution (46 Korean nationals and 1 Indonesian national) and approximately 250 personnel from equipment partner companies related to HL-GA Battery Company were detained.

Diplomatic authorities confirmed that around 300 Korean nationals were detained. Hyundai Motor Group reported that none of its personnel were detained.

The previous day, LG Energy Solution announced, "We are making comprehensive efforts for the early release of those detained," and stated that they would arrange for necessary medications to be delivered to the detainees.

Through close consultation with the Korean government and relevant authorities, efforts are underway to arrange meetings with the detained individuals, and requests will be made to facilitate communication and contact.

President Lee Jae-myung stated regarding the incident, "The rights and interests of our citizens and the economic activities of companies investing in the U.S. should not be unfairly infringed upon during the U.S. law enforcement process," and ordered, "Mobilize all efforts through the Embassy in the U.S. and the Consulate General in Atlanta to swiftly resolve the issue."
