U.S. President Donald Trump stated that relations with South Korea will not deteriorate due to the incident where over 300 Korean workers at a joint battery factory between Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Georgia, USA, were apprehended and detained by U.S. immigration authorities.

When asked at a press conference on Sunday (local time) after returning to Joint Base Andrews near Washington D.C. from attending the men's finals at the US Open Tennis Championships in New York, whether he thought the incident would strain U.S.-South Korea relations, President Trump replied, "No, we have a very good relationship with South Korea."

President Trump added, "A very good relationship, and as you know, we just made a trade deal a short while ago."

Notably, President Trump said, "If we don't have people who know about batteries in this country, we have to help them, bring some people in, and we have to train our people to do battery manufacturing, computer manufacturing, shipbuilding, whatever it may be, these are complicated jobs."

He continued, "So we will be looking at this whole situation. We have many industries that we don't have anymore. We have to have people. The way you have to get people is to bring them in for a period of time and have them teach our people how to do it."

President Trump further emphasized, "We have to bring in experts to train our people so that they can do it themselves."

The President's remarks are interpreted as an indication of his willingness to review the issuance of work and employment visas within the United States.

President Trump stated, "I will be reviewing it because I understand exactly what they have said."

This is President Trump's second reaction to the incident. On the day after the crackdown, the 5th, he stated at the White House, "I think they were illegal immigrants, and ICE did their job."
