On Thursday the 11th, early autumn weather with clear skies and large daily temperature differences will continue due to the influence of a high-pressure system.
Most of the Korean Peninsula will be under a high-pressure system moving from North Korea towards the northern East Sea.
The clear skies overnight have led to active radiation cooling, causing temperatures to drop considerably.
As a result, dense fog has formed in inland areas of Chungcheong and southern regions this morning.
As of 7:40 AM, visibility in Boeun, North Chungcheong Province, was only 180 meters, with visibility falling below 200 meters in several locations due to fog.
Daytime temperatures are expected to rise significantly due to abundant solar radiation.
Due to the high-pressure system, easterly winds will blow towards the Korean Peninsula, causing daytime temperatures on the western side of the Baekdudaegan mountain range to rise considerably.
This is because the air heats up as it descends over the mountains.
However, the apparent temperature is not expected to reach heatwave levels, staying around 31 degrees Celsius.
The highest daytime temperatures nationwide are expected to range from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius on this day.
Expected high temperatures in major cities are Seoul 32 degrees, Incheon and Gwangju 31 degrees, Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan 30 degrees, and Ulsan 28 degrees.
Most areas nationwide will be clear on this day, but Jeju, located on the edge of the high-pressure system, will be cloudy with intermittent rain of 5-20mm until night.
Furthermore, the clear weather will not last long, and heavy rain to usher in autumn will fall across the country from late afternoon on Friday the 12th until night on the 13th, and potentially until early morning on the 14th.
This rain will bring much-needed relief to the East Coast as well.
As a low-pressure system approaches from the Shandong Peninsula in China, rain will continue in Jeju on the 12th, with the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and southern regions receiving rain from late afternoon, and Gangwon Province from night.
The rain will stop on the night of the 13th in most areas, but it may continue until early morning on the 14th in Gangwon Province, northern North Chungcheong Province, and Gyeongbuk Province.
The expected rainfall over the two days, the 12th and 13th, is 30-80mm for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, mountainous Gangwon, Honam, Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (up to over 100mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, and mountainous Gangwon), 20-80mm for Chungcheong, 20-60mm for the Western Sea Islands and northern Gyeongbuk, and 10-40mm for Daegu, central and southern Gyeongbuk, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
For the East Coast, 20-60mm is expected in the northern region, and 10-40mm in the central and southern regions, including Gangneung, which is experiencing severe drought.

In Gangneung, as of September 9th this year, it has rained 0.1mm or more on only 58 out of 252 days.
Consequently, the cumulative rainfall stands at 417.2mm, which is only 40% of the average rainfall for the same period (1064.7mm).
