Cho Hyun, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will visit Beijing, China, from the 17th to the 18th for the first time since taking office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially announced on the 15th.

Minister Cho is scheduled to hold the first South Korea-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting since the inauguration of the new government on the 17th with Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides are expected to discuss various measures for the mature development of the South Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership, including Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to South Korea on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju next month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

It is anticipated that North Korea issues and China's installation of structures in the West Sea of Korea will also be on the agenda during the meeting.

Previously, former Minister Cho Tae-yul visited China in May of last year. Therefore, it would have been the turn for the Chinese side to visit South Korea this time. However, Minister Cho Hyun, having just taken office, is said to have expressed his stance that he is not bound by the order. Yonhap News
