On the 19th, Jang Yeon-mi, mother of the late Oh Yo-anna, cries at a press conference held in front of the Seoul Regional Labor Office in Jung-gu, Seoul, to condemn the special supervision results for the late Oh Yo-anna, a former MBC weathercaster. At the press conference, Oh's mother, Jang, stated that she could "absolutely not accept" the Ministry of Employment and Labor's special labor supervision results that Oh was not recognized as a worker under the Labor Standards Act. On the 15th, the first anniversary of the death of MBC weathercaster Oh Yo-anna, MBC unveiled a reform plan centered on abolishing the weathercaster system, drawing backlash from civic groups and the bereaved family, who called it "an act of killing Ms. Oh twice."

Civic groups 'Ending Credit' and 'Workplace Bullying 119' held a memorial cultural event in front of MBC in Mapo-gu that evening for Ms. Oh, who died last year after reporting workplace bullying.

Citizens who participated in the cultural event laid flowers before Ms. Oh's portrait and urged MBC President Ahn Hyung-joon to issue a public apology and to convert weathercasters to regular employment.

In particular, the bereaved family and the groups criticized MBC's announcement to abolish the freelance weathercaster system, calling it "an act that tramples on the minimum courtesy towards a human being."

MBC unveiled a plan to abolish the existing system and introduce a regular employment system for 'meteorological and climate experts.' The bereaved family and groups pointed out that this plan "does not recognize Ms. Oh's status as a worker at all and would lead to the dismissal of weathercasters if they fail in the competitive public recruitment."

Furthermore, Jang Yeon-mi, Ms. Oh's mother, who has been on a hunger strike in front of MBC since the 8th, stated at the memorial event, "MBC did not protect (my daughter) from bullying because of the freelance contract, and they used her and discarded her at any time because she was a non-regular worker." She asserted, "To prevent a second Yo-anna, the workplace bullying prohibition law must be applied to all workers."

Jang also said that on the morning of the 19th, President Ahn visited the protest site and requested her to end the hunger strike, but he did not respond to the demand to "establish preventative measures to prevent a second Oh Yo-anna from happening."
