Cho Kuk: "Reforms Party Preparing Impeachment Motion for Cho Hee-dae... Special Prosecutor Needed for Remand Ruling"
"Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Should Consider His Position... If He Refuses, the National Assembly Will Have to Act"

Cho Guk, interim leader of the Korea Reform Party, said on the 17th, "The Korea Reform Party has already prepared an impeachment motion against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae."
Speaking at the 'Going to the End' special committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Cho stated, "The Korea Reform Party will create a Supreme Court without Cho Hee-dae and a judiciary without Ji Gwi-yeon."
Cho emphasized the need for judicial reform, stating that the leadership of the court, including Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho, "is facing public distrust, anger, and demands for reform."
He added, "Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho should explain and apologize to the public now. It is right for him to consider his position," and "If he refuses, the National Assembly will have no choice but to intervene."
He also argued for the necessity of introducing a special prosecutor regarding the Supreme Court's remand ruling in the public official election law violation case of then-presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, prior to the last presidential election.
Cho stated, "A special prosecutor is needed for the Supreme Court en banc ruling by Cho Hee-dae that attempted to eliminate a presidential candidate," and "Even before that, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) must thoroughly investigate the reported case. Crucial evidence that might reveal whether the court cooperated in sedition could be hidden behind this ruling."
Furthermore, he mentioned the need to establish an independent inspection agency within the judiciary and to decentralize judicial institutions.
Seo Sang-beom, the party's legal committee chairman, told reporters after the meeting regarding the impeachment motion against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho, "The remand case itself was unfair and involved various political interventions," adding, "The timing of its proposal is still under discussion."
