The Korea Meteorological Administration advised people to check the latest weather information and radar images, as rainfall is expected to vary significantly even within a single administrative district.
Heat is expected to continue through the day, with perceived temperatures around 33 degrees Celsius in the southern regions.
The nationwide daytime high temperatures are forecast to be between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Seoul and Incheon will see daytime highs of 24 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively, Daejeon 28 degrees, Gwangju 29 degrees, and Daegu, Ulsan, and Busan 32 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to drop further after the rain ceases. On the 18th, morning low temperatures are projected to be between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius.
From the afternoon of the 17th, strong winds of 30-55 km/h (9-15 m/s) and high waves of 1.5-3.5 meters are expected in the outer waters of the central West Sea. From the evening, similar conditions are expected in the outer northern waters of the southern West Sea and the eastern waters of the East Sea.
