The People Power Party argued on the 19th that Democratic Party lawmakers who raised suspicions that Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae met with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and discussed the handling of President Lee Jae-myung's case should be subject to "punitive damages."

At the policy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Song Eon-seok stated, "It has been confirmed that the tip-off was merely the voice of an individual spreading false information, or a distorted or AI-generated voice, and had no relation whatsoever to Chief Justice Cho," and made the aforementioned claim.

He emphasized, "Jeong Cheong-rae, Seo Young-kyo, Bu Seung-chan, and Kim Eo-jun, who publicly spread false information, should be the first targets for the punitive damages system being pursued by the Democratic Party, and should bear immense liability for damages."

Senior Deputy Floor Leader Yoo Sang-beom also raised his voice, saying, "It has been revealed that the audio recording of Chief Justice Cho's meeting, systematically presented by the Democratic Party, was actually a fake audio file recreated by AI. The Democratic Party, caught engaging in irresponsible rumor politics, must apologize to the public and bear due responsibility."

He continued, "The act of threatening the Chief Justice and shaking the nation's order by throwing out 'take it or leave it' rumors while hiding behind parliamentary immunity is a grave challenge to liberal democracy and an act of violence that threatens the constitutional order."

Senior Deputy Floor Policy Leader Kim Eun-hye said, "President Lee has stated that he will surely eradicate acts that prey on fake news and disrupt the order of the nation. As the President promised, please mobilize all our capabilities to eradicate the Democratic Party."
