The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced that it held a meeting on the 23rd, chaired by Kim Kwang-yong, Head of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, to check the response situation of relevant agencies, as heavy rain is expected across the country on the 24th and 25th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, central regions will experience rainfall of 20-30 mm per hour on the 24th.
From the early morning to the afternoon of the 25th, strong rain of around 30-50 mm per hour is forecast, primarily in the western coastal areas of Chungnam and the western regions of Jeolla. There is a possibility of more than 100 mm of rain in some areas.
Strong winds exceeding 15 m/s are also expected, particularly in Jeju, the west coast, and the mountainous regions of Gangwon.
At the meeting, the Headquarters chief urged relevant agencies to "thoroughly manage safety to prevent flooding, as heavy rain is expected mainly in the metropolitan area and west coast regions."
He added, "We will activate a government-level preemptive response system with vigilance to prevent unfortunate damage due to heavy rain ahead of Chuseok.
