'North and South Korean Dictionaries: A Comparative Study' to be the Subject of International Academic Forum in Seoul Next Month

 The 'UNESCO Gyeoremal Keunsajeon International Academic Forum,' which will analyze North and South Korean dictionaries and discuss sustainable development methods for indigenous languages, will be held on the 23rd of next month at the Seoul Museum of Art.


The event, hosted by the Joint Project for the Compilation of the Gyeoremal Keunsajeon of North and South Korea (the Project) and sponsored by the Ministry of Unification and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, will proceed under the theme 'Comparative Study of North and South Korean Dictionaries and Literary Writing in Indigenous Languages.'


Professor Do Won-young of Korea University and Professor Kim Chul-jun of Yanbian University will deliver keynote lectures on 'Korean National Dictionaries and Lexicography' and 'Compilation of Joseon-mal Dictionaries and Lexicographical Research in China,' respectively.


Following them, Professor Choi Si-han, Emeritus Professor at Sookmyung Women's University, and Professor Lee Kyung-soo of Chung-Ang University will present on 'The Use of Indigenous Languages in Novels' and 'The Meaning and Value of Indigenous Languages in Modern Poetry,' respectively.


Poet Do Jong-hwan and novelist Jung Ji-a are among those scheduled to attend the conversation with writers.
