Jeju Western Police Station. Yonhap News. A situation occurred at a casino exclusively for foreigners in Jeju where Chinese patrons staged a collective protest and caused a disturbance, prompting police intervention.
According to the Jeju Western Police Station on the 24th, at approximately 5:30 PM that day, police received a report from the casino located in a hotel in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City, stating, "About 50 customers are causing a disturbance."
It is reported that a Chinese customer became dissatisfied and protested after a dealer made a mistake during a casino game. At this time, other Chinese customers joined in, leading to a rather tense situation.
Responding to the report, police apprehended one Chinese man in his 50s on charges of assault and obstruction of business, and subsequently arrested and are investigating two Chinese men in their 30s on charges of assault.
They are accused of inciting people, obstructing business, and assaulting three casino security guards.
A police official explained, "It seems the situation escalated due to a crowd gathering as people joined the protest out of mob mentality," and stated that they are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident by securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence.
